1999 xk8 Window Reset WD-40
1999 XK8. What I did first was to reprogram the window. To do this you push the window down button and hold until you hear or feel a click. Then push the window button for the window to close and hear or feel the click. This should be done when you are in the car and the door is closed. The window should operate properly by opening a slight bit when the door is opened and close when the door is closed.

This problem is often caused by a weak battery voltage.  10.5 or below they loose memory settings.

You need to know that WD-40 stands for water displacement and that it was the 40th try to make. It will clean but its lubricating qualities fall short of what you need. I am a big fan of Pennzoil 705 white grease. It has a high melting point and it water resistant. It exceeds most lubrication qualities with 1 exception made by corning.

What Oil Do I Use 1999 xk8 A/C Test
I found this web location when I was asking the same questions and
I think it might help you in your search for the right oil.
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/  I have 152,000 mi on my 95 xj6 4.0
(10w 40 oil) and 230,000mi on my rav4 (synthetic oil from day
one). I was told many years ago not to change from the standard
oil and begin using synthetic in an engine of many miles. How true
that is today I have no idea and have no desire to do that.
However, it made sense then and I apply it to today.

Here is a diagnostic procedure for the A/C I copied from one
of the XK forums but the MY wasn't included.

1. Ignition off - hold down AUTO and RECIRCULATION buttons and
switch on the ignition
2. press AUTO button - if ZERO shows, there's no stored
error codes
3. press FACE button repeatedly to scroll through stored
fault codes
4. press FACE and HEATED REAR WINDOW buttons together to
clear a fault code.
5. repeat step 4 if there's more than one code
6. press FAN button to exit Interrogation Procedure

It would seem Jaguar doesn't make this info generally known.
So what's new?

1995 xj6 Transmission

I had a hard shift 3rd gear on my 95 xj6. I took it to a local
trans shop who recommended replacing the fluid and cleaning the
filters first. I was going to install a BG product for
transmissions but elected not to do that after getting a second
opinion. I also looked at the option of the power flush but elected not
to go that direction.  What I did do was have the fluid changed.

He replaced the trans fluid with Mercon 3 and installed a RED Lube Guard. I had this
done at around 120,000mi and I am at 151,000+mi. He told me that
the combination of these two items were correct for this car xj6.
A lot is taken into consideration Trans type and the operating
temperature. It worked for me.

On my 93 xjs I had a problem with shifting
but it was because the radiator had a leak causing coolant to get
into the trans. This was not noticeable on the dip stick.
Replaced the trans. I would recommend that you take it to a good
trans shop to do the work.

Buy the way the BG trans treatment worked well on 3 of my Toyota’s
with over 150,000mi

Reprogram/Reset Alarm 1993 xj-s
After recharging your battery remove one of the battery terminals and wait for 5 seconds. Reinstall the terminal to the battery and press your remote 5 times. If you have two remotes press one 3 times and the other 2 times for a total of 5 times. This should stop the chirping and restore the codes for the security system.

Brakes  Disk Pad Replacement 1995 XJ6
I recently replaced both the front and rear brakes on my 95xj6 and I had no problems. They were similar to those on an American car. Remove the wheel and you will see the caliper. On the inboard of the caliper you will see 2 rubber caps that cover the hex bolts that hold the caliper in place. Remove the caps and identify the proper size hex driver and remove the hex bolts. They may be a little hard to remove if the lubricant that is on it is old and dry. Once you get them out remove the spring clip that is on the outboard of the caliper. At that point lift the caliper up and away from the disk. Keep in mind not to twist or bend the brake fluid line any more than necessary and do not let the caliper hang by the line. Use a small c clamp to retract the caliper making room for the new brakes. When doing this take your time and do not put it into a bind. Apply even pressure on the cup. “Oh” I forgot make sure that your brake fluid does not overflow. (I know of people that will open and bleed the brake fluid at the caliper when retracting the caliper I would not recommend bleeding it this way) . They say it bleeds the old out allowing you to add new fluid. When you put it back together make sure that the hex bolt is clean and new grease is applied. As for the rear the process is the same with the one exception, you may find that the hose is in the way of you accessing the hex bolt. If that is the case get a longer hex tool for the bolt. Good Luck!

Cleaning and Lubricating Antenna

Spray it with WD40 work it around the antenna operate the antenna and wipe it dry then do it again for 3 to 4 times.  If your antenna is not broken internally this process will help in making it operate smoothly and consistently.  Keeping it clean and dry is what you want to do.  WD40 stands for water-displacing and the 40 means it took 40 attempts to create.  In your case you need to keep it clean from dirt and the spray will do the rest
